Did you catch the James Comey interview?
You didn’t miss much.
It looked like it was set up, filmed, and edited by the Hillary Clinton campaign and one of Hillary’s most loyal operatives conducted the interview disguised as a real journalist.
From National Review:
When former FBI director James Comey sat down with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, the script was clear. This was the moment when Comey was going to unload on Donald Trump, explain his role in investigating Hillary Clinton to angry Democrats, and disclose some delicious, salacious new details about Trump’s perfidy and corruption. If Michael Wolff’s Fire and Fury ultimately fizzled because readers couldn’t separate fact from fiction, then surely Comey could deliver the goods, right?
Well, he delivered, all right — just not the goods Democrats wanted. In one hour of television, Comey and Stephanopoulos inadvertently reaffirmed what we already knew: In 2016, the entire American political system cracked, including — in crucial ways — the FBI.
Comey’s performance was embarrassing and the only people who took anything away were people who hate Trump to their core and will eat up anything that makes him look bad. It was tabloid television. Plain and simple.
One of the strangest moments came when Comey started talking about how much his family loves Hillary.
From The Daily Caller:
Fired FBI director James Comey confirmed that his wife Patrice wanted Hillary Clinton to be the first female president, and Patrice Comey told ABC News that she was “devastated” when Clinton lost.
“I didn’t take a poll among all the kids, but I’m pretty sure that at least my four daughters, probably all five of my kids, wanted Hillary Clinton to be the first woman president,” James Comey said.
“My wife and girls marched in the Women’s March the day after President Trump’s inauguration,” he continued.
First of all, why are you telling us that?
Second of all, are we supposed to believe that had no effect on your decision?
Make no mistake. Comey re-wrote the law in his own mind in order not to prosecute Hillary. The evidence was there. He didn’t do it and it’s really impossible to make the argument at this point that it wasn’t political.
In fact, Comey admitted in the interview that the polls were on his mind when he made the decision.
From CBS News:
The assumption that Hillary Clinton would win the 2016 presidential election influenced fired FBI Director James Comey’s decision to make a last-minute announcement about the investigation into her use of a private email server at the State Department, Comey told ABC News in an interview airing Sunday night.
ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos asked if Comey’s assumption that Clinton would win the presidency in 2016 was a factor in hisin October claiming additional emails had been discovered related to the email investigation, days before the election. Comey said it, “must have been.” Clinton has said she partly blames Comey’s handling of the investigation for her loss, as do many of her supporters.
“It must have been,” Comey told Stephanopoulos. “I don’t remember consciously thinking about that, but it must have been. Because I was operating in a world where Hillary Clinton was going to beat Donald Trump. And so I’m sure that it was a factor. Like I said, I don’t remember spelling it out, but it had to have been, that she’s going to be elected president and if I hide this from the American people, she’ll be illegitimate the moment she’s elected, the moment this comes out.”
Comey was in over his head as head of the FBI.
Sunday’s interview left no doubt about that.
