Republicans are racist. That’s what we hear all day long in the media. They hate everyone who isn’t white. They hate women. They hate gays. They hate everyone.
Obviously, that doesn’t jive with reality at all and it’s a little odd for Democrats to lecture anyone on racism when they have such a horrific track record of racism but they do it anyway.
Recently, Justice Neil Gorsuch did something that flies right in the face of the narrative we constantly hear from the media in terms of Republicans and race.
From The Daily Caller:
In an apparent first at the U.S. Supreme Court, Justice Neil Gorsuch has hired a Native American clerk for the 2018 term.
The clerk, Tobi Merritt Edwards Young, is an enrolled citizen of the Chickasaw Nation from Midwest City, Oklahoma, and has worked for Gorsuch since the early days of President George W. Bush’s administration.
“I hope that if other Chickasaws read about my experiences, they will recognize that nothing stops them from pursuing any dream that they have too,” Young said in a Chickasaw Nation press release. “Somebody from where they are from is going to be working every day at the Supreme Court, and there’s no reason that there shouldn’t be many more to come.”
Conservatives need to be careful that they don’t act like liberals here. It doesn’t matter what this woman looks like. Her skin color should be completely ignored. She should be hired based on her qualifications and based on her qualifications only.
However, if the left wants to play the racial identity politics game then they have to acknowledge historic firsts like this.
Obviously, this won’t count for anything in the minds of Democrats but it would be front page news if a liberal justice had done it.
This is reminiscent of the silly narrative about Trump hating women.
Yeah, not exactly…
From The Hill:
President George W. Bush did better than his republican predecessors, but still fell a bit short.
The unattainable feat?
Hiring an astounding number of women for senior-level positions in the White House.
Luckily for women everywhere, in 2018 it has finally been accomplished.
Naturally, Vogue has written about it. Cosmopolitan has shouted it from the rooftops, as has MSNBC and every other liberal news outlet.
If only that last part were true.
Throwing the racist accusation around or throwing the sexist allegation around isn’t something serious people do. It’s a horrible thing to call someone and should only be done if there are facts to back it up and that’s just not the case 99% of the time when the media hurls that slur at Republicans.
Gorsuch has been doing a phenomenal job on the Supreme Court and this is just one example.
Shame on the media for consistently ignoring stories like this that don’t fit the narrative.
