Day After Big Interview, Comey Gets Blindsided with Last News He Wanted To Hear

Everyone knew that the Comey interview was going to be a disaster. For starters, the interview was conducted by a former Clinton operative who donated to the Clinton Foundation. Obviously, you weren’t going to get fair questions from George Stephanopolous. It’s remarkable that guy is considered a journalist. Secondly, it is well known that Comey is a guy who likes attention. If not, he wouldn’t be teasing his book the way he is, he wouldn’t have leaked one of his memos to the press, he wouldn’t be tweeting shots at Trump, he wouldn’t be doing a lot of the things he’s done.

Having said that, the interview was even worse than expected. There was nothing new in it and basically, it was just an opportunity for Comey to make fun of Trump for having small hands and a tan.

Comey and the media wanted the entire country to tune in and hear gossip about how crazy Trump is. They didn’t get their wish.

A fair amount of people tuned in but when put into context the numbers were not ideal.

From The Daily Caller:

ABC’s Sunday night interview with James Comey earned the network a ratings boost, yet fewer people watched the former FBI director’s conversation with George Stephanopoulos than both the 2018 Academy of Country Music Awards and “60 Minutes” sit-down with Stormy Daniels the previous month.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC “averaged 9.8 million viewers and a 2.4 rating” in the A25-54 demographic. Conversely, the 2018 AMCs, which aired on CBS, averaged 12.08 million.

CBS’ Stormy Daniels interview more than doubled Comey’s numbers, and its 24.5 million viewer average was 60 Minutes’ highest rated episode in the past 10 years.

Comey was outdone by Stormy Daniels and a country music awards show.

Probably not what he had in mind.

Comey said a lot of really silly things during the interview.

He mentioned a couple times that he was afraid to stand up to Trump.

Then Comey claimed that Trump may have committed obstruction which goes against his testimony.

Comey was all over the place.

Exactly. Derek Hunter was on fire on Twitter last night but basically, Comey is pretending he’s this principled guy despite the fact he personally displayed a lack of principle time and time again. A principled guy would have indicted Hillary. A principled guy wouldn’t leak. A principled guy wouldn’t be intimidated by Trump. A principled guy would have resigned rather than work for a person he thought wasn’t “morally fit” to be president.

The whole situation is absurd and Comey is clearly just trying to sell books.

From CNN:

The publisher of James Comey’s book “A Higher Loyalty” is printing 850,000 copies to meet the expected demand from buyers.

To put that number in perspective: The initial print run of Michael Wolff’s book “Fire and Fury” was just 150,000 copies.

Comey’s book is shaping up to be the second political publishing industry sensation of the year. It is already guaranteed to be a best-seller based solely on the number of pre-orders.

A lot of angry liberals out there who want to read gossip about Trump and are willing to pay for it.
